Seriously, I'd like to say I'm not the typical girl, but that rarely gets noticed. I'm 28 and have been back in Memphis for 4 years. I've kind of coined a term "refining tom-boy" to describe myself. You see, I always wanted to defy stereotypes and do what I liked, but life has taught me that society as a whole does not make life easy for that individual. Fortunately, I have had some great influences in recent years and I actually enjoy getting dressed up with makeup if the situation calls for it. However, I am still looking for more of those opportunities to present themselves, at least I'm prepared for them now. I also take pride in being fairly handy around the house, even if jobs take me a while and are not perfect. It gives me self satisfaction knowing I did it myself, or with a little help/guidance.

I used to love to have fun, be young and crazy, free, whatever cliqued euphemisms to describe a highly irresponsible life, but now I'm a philosophy PhD student, so I'm essentially a paid intellectual snob. I also have an interest in social justice. I think there are so many things people take too seriously and even more things people take too lightly.
