Memphis boasts being the “Birthplace of the Blues.” For a taste of the music scene in Memphis just follow the Beale Street Walk of Fame musical notes embedded in the sidewalk. Night and day, Beale Street is the center of barbeque and blues. Get ready for Memphis nightlife with a barbeque pork sandwich or a platter of mouthwatering Memphis ribs. With dozens of clubs in a three block district, there’s some rock and roll, country, jazz and plenty of Memphis blues. There are top-name clubs like B.B. King’s, Elvis Presley’s, and Rum Boogies. There are small dives, favorite local “juke joints” and street performers seeking stardom.

Each year, music lovers from around the world gather for the Memphis in May International Festival. The month long event features the largest pork barbeque cook-off on the planet and non-stop music. Over 60 top blues, rock and soul artists have the crowds dancing in the streets at the Beale Street part of the festival. Praise in the Park, another Memphis in May music event, features a gospel celebration and the SunTrust Sunset Symphony ends the festival on a classical note.
