West Memphis High School Reviews

This has to be one of the worst schools in america. They are still living in the 50's with the punishments they give students. They are pretty good in football and basketball but if you want your child to be successful in life send them somewhere else!

This is a great school with caring and concerned teachers. It offers many diderent choices for classes and my son takes college classes for free while in HS. He has a great, strong ACT score and has many offers to many colleges, including Harvard and Yale. We are very pleased.

This is one of the worst schools in the country. I advise anyone going to arkansas to leave this school alone they are only after the parents money believe me i went there but finally made it out after my parents were able to do better. If you want an ignorant child with no character or without the ability to think logically then move to arkansas and enroll them into West memphis high school!

Well, I'm not a parent but I am a student and I would like to say that this school is perfect. There is a lot of diversity in the school and I think that we learn academics and how to socialize with people because in the real world we will have to. This, school is very academically great and the extracurricular activities are great to.

I live seconds away from the high school. I never wanted my son to go there. They (the school) pay more attention to the sports program than the academic program. My son plays basketball. Coming from out of State he said this school is easy. I would like for this school to change the way they allow the students to go out for lunch. I don't understand the purpose because they can't eat at Burger King. I myself going to the Family Dollar across the street I broke up more fights than i care to count. This is enough to make you say HMMMM My friend's sister was in the honors class and when she got out of high school she needed to take prep college classes.

My son graduated from wmhs in 2004 & we were not disappointed at all. The teachers care about their students, but most of the students just don't care & that is the only problem that i saw. But that's not the school's fault, it's the kids who go to school with the bad attitudes, foul language, racism, & etc. That causes the problems for the entire student body. Parents are not as involved as they should be. If they were, maybe they would realize that the school, the teachers & the administration may not necessarily be the problem, but the attitude of the child is. This school does have an award winning choral department under the leadership of mr. Conwill. The athletic department & marching band are outstanding! wmhs, you have 2 thumbs up from this parent! keep up the good work.

I think that our school needs more involvement with the students and need to be more strict and i think that less students would skip or drop of school and we need to have dances and other activities for the school like volleyball and a frisbe team and the food needs to change and not have the same thing every other day more students would eat in the cafetria if they did and the teachers should not favor some kids just because there rich or prepy or white or black i think they should treat every student the same thank you for listening to our problems.

This is an overall great school. The principals show great leadership in what they do. The teachers are excellent. Some of them are very motivated in teaching. Here are a few of them: Mrs.McDougle, Mrs.McCarty, Mrs.Waggener, and Mrs. Baskin. The school has the average students. You have the bad ones and the good ones. Every school can expect to have that. The principals punish the entire school for the bad students mistakes, but that only shows their leadership and that they are on top of things. That is why this is one of the best schools in Arkansas.

This school is excellent. I am about to graduate from the University of Arkansas with a minor in biology, a minor in zoology, a specialization in remote sensing and geographical information science, and a BS in earth sciences. teachers like Mrs. Bruce, Mrs Minnis, Mrs. Brown, Coach William Long, and Mr. Moore, gave me a back ground in math and sciences that put me far ahead of most of the students at the University. The school has its down falls, but if anyone realy wants to learn and excell, the opportunity is definitely there. I would like to say thanks to all the teachers who helped make my life a success!
