Appling Middle School Reviews

I love this school. My oldest child is in 2nd year here and I have 4 more following him. Mr. Foster is fantastic. He is tough but he really loves these kids. He expects great things out of them and usually they don't disappoint. He knows them and can call most of them by name. The teachers are fantastic and they really motivate the students to excel.

I was a student at that school. The teachers were extremely nice. They tried to help us any way the could. I really miss this beautiful school. I hope the school grows and prospers.

this school is amazing!!! there are nice people, good teachers, and a wide variety of extra activities.

I have been extremely pleased with our experience at Appling. Coming from another Bartlett middle school and having an extremely bad experience for more than two years -- Appling is top notch! The discipline is strict but fair -- every child has the same consequences which is a big switch from the previous school! I appreciate the faculty and staff and have no complaints other than communications could be a little better. However, if/when I've emailed a teacher, I've received a prompt response. You just have to ask. I highly recommend Appling Middle!

My child now attends Appling as a 7th grader. We moved to specifically be in Appling's district. I love Mr. Foster he knows every child by name and he runs a great school. All the teachers and staff really take interest in your child no matter the background. My child loves Appling and it is a very safe school and very nice school and all of the staff there cares alot. Appling seems to be known more for their academics than their athletics.

I love just about everything about this school. This is my childs 2nd year to attend Appling and it is absolutely wonderful to be able to send her to school knowing she will be safe and get a great education plus have extra curricular activities that strengthen her physically and mentally. Mr. Foster runs a very tight ship and all the students have much respect for him. One thing I do not like is the excessive amount of homework given every day. I believe they should have to study for tests and such but feel the amount homework is way out of line. I am not a teacher and should not be expected to sit and teach my child at night and argue about 2 hours of homework. If this would change, you could not ask for a better school.

As for my child's experience at Appling, he loves it. Mr. Foster is indeed a discipline oriented principal. But I do have a problem with the overall educational program. The teachers however do not challenge the children intellectually. Gifted children are not given a harder curriculum. There is no motivation given to these students at all to advance. Beta?, Honor Society? Key Club? AP classes? All not pushed at this school. Average students are treated just as that...average! They do just enough to keep the T-Cap scores where they should be. Resource students basically get a free ride and all of the freedoms other students are denied because they are in the 'special' programs. Overall, I think the problem lies in the SCS system. But, this school could do something to make a difference and not just 'push' every child through because it is the 'politically correct' thing to do.

Mr. Foster is a dedicated principal, always there and open with parents. His dress code is awesome! It has a few freedoms with the guidelines they'll need to be successful adults.

Moving from a different state & district, I am not impressed with the way this district is ran. The principle does nothing but yell at the students, and when we as parent voted on what our children could and should wear at school, our vote didnt matter. In the end the principle has full control of what he wants the students to wear. Personally, I will always have a bad taste in my mouth from this District and State.

2004-2005 Was my son's first year there as a 6th grader. I think it is a wonderful school. I kept in close contact with the teachers to ensure my childs education. This is an A+ school.

'I've attended Appling, When it first opened I was really impressed with how well Mr. Foster Disciplined the student body. I felt really safe, having Mr. Foster as my Principal. I'm really honored that I've attended Appling, for a Middle School. We need more Principals like Mr. Foster.'

Principal Odell Foster is pro-discipline and will not put up with the kids that do not want an education like some of the others.
